ZEEKR 7X RWD

The current Zeekr 7X lineup sold in Australia has three grades. RWD is the entry point at $57,900, with a single rear motor. Long Range RWD steps up to $63,900, extending range on the same rear-wheel-drive layout. Performance AWD tops the range at $72,900, adding a second motor for all-wheel drive.

All three are electric mid-size SUVs built on the same 4-door wagon body; the practical differences are drivetrain (single-motor RWD on the first two grades, dual-motor AWD on the top grade) and where each grade lands relative to the FBT thresholds that apply to novated leases.

Pros

• Three grades spanning $57,900 to $72,900 RRP, all comfortably under the $75,000 FBT threshold that applies from April 2027, measured on RRP.
• Dual-motor AWD is available on the Performance grade without a large step up from the base RWD price.
• Every grade sits well clear of the luxury car tax threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles, so the full FBT exemption is not in doubt on eligibility grounds before April 2027.

Cons

• Only the entry RWD and Long Range RWD grades are confirmed under every relevant threshold on both RRP and drive-away figures; Performance AWD's $78,052 drive-away estimate crosses the $75,000 line that starts to matter from April 2027, even though its $72,900 RRP sits under it.
• Power output and seating configuration are not yet published for the Zeekr 7X in this guide — confirm these directly with a dealer before deciding between grades.
• As a newer entrant to the Australian market, Zeekr's local service and charging network is less established than longer-tenured EV brands.

Battery electric vehicles under the luxury car tax threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles ($91,387, rising to $91,661 from 1 July 2026) are exempt from fringe benefits tax when packaged through a novated lease. That exemption is being phased out in two steps.

• Until 31 March 2027 — full exemption, unchanged, for any Zeekr 7X grade under the luxury car tax threshold.
• From 1 April 2027 — full exemption continues only for electric vehicles under $75,000. Above that, up to the luxury car tax threshold, a 25% FBT discount applies instead. This is the line the Performance AWD sits close to, at $72,900 RRP but $78,052 drive-away.
• From 1 April 2029 — the full exemption ends. A 25% discount applies to all eligible vehicles.

Leases already in place are grandfathered: a lease entered into before a phase start date keeps its treatment for the term.

Where each grade sits: RWD and Long Range RWD are both well clear of every threshold. Performance AWD lists at $72,900 RRP — under the $75,000 line — but its drive-away estimate of $78,052 already exceeds it, since options and on-road costs count toward the value tested. Confirm eligibility on the specific build before assuming the exemption applies from April 2027 onward.
