POLESTAR 4 LONG RANGE SINGLE MOTOR +PACK

The Polestar 4 lineup in Australia now spans ten grades. Long Range Single Motor is the entry point at $78,500, with a single rear motor, followed closely by Rear Motor Pilot at $81,500. Long Range Single Motor +Pack ($86,500) and Rear Motor Pilot Plus ($88,000) add equipment on the same rear-wheel-drive layout. All-wheel drive starts with Long Range Dual Motor at $88,350 and Dual Motor Pilot at $89,350, then steps up through Dual Motor Pilot Plus ($97,188) and Long Range Dual Motor +Pack ($97,839) to the Dual Motor Performance ($106,548) and Long Range Dual Motor Performance Pack ($107,199) flagships.

All ten are electric 4-door coupes; the practical differences are drivetrain (single-motor RWD on the four entry grades, dual-motor AWD on the six higher grades) and equipment pack. Every Polestar 4 grade now prices above the $75,000 FBT full-exemption threshold that applies from April 2027, and the four highest-priced grades exceed the luxury car tax threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles outright — see below.

Pros

• Six of the ten grades, from Long Range Single Motor to Dual Motor Pilot, sit under the $91,387 luxury car tax threshold on RRP, keeping some form of EV FBT benefit in play.
• All-wheel drive is available from $88,350 RRP (Long Range Dual Motor), still under the luxury car tax threshold before drive-away costs are added.
• A ten-grade spread gives more choice than most EVs in this price bracket, from a sub-$80,000 entry point to a pair of performance-focused flagships.

Cons

• Dual Motor Pilot Plus ($97,188 RRP), Long Range Dual Motor +Pack ($97,839 RRP), Dual Motor Performance ($106,548 RRP) and Long Range Dual Motor Performance Pack ($107,199 RRP) all exceed the luxury car tax threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles — none are eligible for the EV FBT exemption at any point, not just after the 2027 phase-out.
• Every grade now prices above $75,000, so none qualify for the full FBT exemption once the April 2027 change lands — at best, eligible grades move straight to the 25% discount.
• Power output and seating configuration are not yet published for the Polestar 4 in this guide — confirm these directly with a dealer before deciding between grades.

Battery electric vehicles under the luxury car tax threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles ($91,387, rising to $91,661 from 1 July 2026) are exempt from fringe benefits tax when packaged through a novated lease. That exemption is being phased out in two steps.

• Until 31 March 2027 — full exemption, unchanged, for any Polestar 4 grade under the luxury car tax threshold.
• From 1 April 2027 — full exemption continues only for electric vehicles under $75,000. Above that, up to the luxury car tax threshold, a 25% FBT discount applies instead.
• From 1 April 2029 — the full exemption ends. A 25% discount applies to all eligible vehicles.

Leases already in place are grandfathered: a lease entered into before a phase start date keeps its treatment for the term.

Where each grade sits: every Polestar 4 grade now prices above the $75,000 line, so none qualify for the full exemption once the April 2027 change lands. Long Range Single Motor ($78,500 RRP, $83,932 drive-away) and Rear Motor Pilot ($81,500 RRP, $87,082 drive-away) sit under the luxury car tax threshold on both RRP and drive-away, so they move cleanly to the 25% discount from April 2027. Long Range Single Motor +Pack ($86,500 RRP, $92,332 drive-away), Rear Motor Pilot Plus ($88,000 RRP, $93,907 drive-away), Long Range Dual Motor ($88,350 RRP, $94,275 drive-away) and Dual Motor Pilot ($89,350 RRP, $95,325 drive-away) all price under the threshold on RRP but over it on drive-away, so eligibility for even the 25% discount depends on the final on-road cost for your state. Dual Motor Pilot Plus ($97,188 RRP), Long Range Dual Motor +Pack ($97,839 RRP), Dual Motor Performance ($106,548 RRP) and Long Range Dual Motor Performance Pack ($107,199 RRP) exceed the luxury car tax threshold outright and are not eligible for any FBT exemption or discount under this scheme, regardless of date.
